Surface set diamond coring bits are manufactured with a single layer of natural diamonds set into a hard matrix on the working faces of the bit to give long service life and maximum penetration in soft to hard formations.
The surface set diamond bit (s/s) differs from the impregnated diamond bit in that they are set with a single layer of natural drill diamond on the working surfaces of the bit crown in a pre-determined pattern.
